About the move from an in-person to virtual event

Why did you decide to make it a Virtual Congress in 2021?

We’ve decided to take the proactive and early decision to ‘go virtual’ for all our 2021 events, including the Congress. We’ve done this to protect the safety and well-being of our participants and the general public, given the ongoing progress of the COVID-19 pandemic.

I already registered and paid for the in-person event in Torino. What should I do?

Because the Congress has changed to being virtual, we will cancel your original registration and refund your registration fee. You should receive an email from us with further details on how to obtain this refund by 11 November 2020; if you haven’t received this email by 11 November please contact [email protected].

I already submitted an abstract for the for the in-person event in Torino. What happens to my abstract?

We will email by 11 November everyone who has submitted an abstract, but in summary: your abstract is still available in our submission system as a draft abstract. Log in to our abstracts portal to update, edit and resubmit to be considered for presentation during the EACR 2021 Virtual Congress. You must log in and resubmit by 08 March 2021 in order for your abstract to be evaluated. If you have any difficulties, please contact [email protected].

About the EACR 2021 Virtual Congress

What are the dates of the Virtual Congress?

The Virtual Congress will be held 09-12 June 2021.

When will abstract submission open?

Abstract submission is now closed.

When will registration open?

Registration will open by mid-January 2021. There will be discounted registration fees for EACR members (you can join the EACR here).

How can participants present their research virtually?

For accepted abstracts there are lots of chances to present your work including oral presentations, Top Abstract session, moderated poster session (Posters in the Spotlight) and digital abstract and e-poster galleries.

What opportunities for networking and interaction will there be?

We are still working on the details, but we are planning plenty of networking, both social and scientific! This includes informal meetings after each talk for speakers and audience to interact as they would at the podium after an in-person talk.

What scientific sessions will be held at the Virtual Congress?

We are still finalising the programme but it will include:

  • Live Q&A panel for each session and we are also working on informal ‘round the podium’ chats with speakers after their talks about cancer treatment and drug tests
  • Scientific symposia held 3-in-parallel (the same as at the in-person event, except now you can access the ones you missed on-demand afterwards!)
  • Plenary and Award lectures including TWO Nobel Prize-winners
  • Moderated poster session (Posters in the Spotlight)
  • Additional scientific sessions organised by industry sponsors

Will the scientific lectures be available after the Virtual Congress?

Yes, the recorded lectures will be available on-demand for three months after the event.

Will there be a trade exhibition?

Yes, there will be a Virtual Exhibition giving participants and exhibitors the chance to interact, as well as plenty of other opportunities for companies to showcase their products. Interested companies please contact [email protected].
